The picturesque village of Poolewe is situated at the mouth of the River Ewe with spectacular mountain scenery on one side and Loch Maree on the other.
Poolewe has a lot to offer the visitor with Inverewe Garden round the bay, stunning walks by the river and ample cycling or mountain biking routes.
The village has a hotel, shop and Post Office and a great coffee shop and gallery, as well as the Button Bothy and second hand book shop.
For a rainy day there is also a small indoor public swimming pool.
Tuesday is market day where you can buy an abundance of local arts & crafts.
Wednesday (summer months) is Ceilidh Night. Dance & sing the night away with local artists & Scottish music.
Nearby is the village of Gairloch with cafes, restaurants and shops. There is a 9 hole golf course and visitors can also go whale watching from the harbour.
The award winning museum is open daily with an excellent coffee shop next door.
